0:00:13 i was watching
0:00:14 um an interesting podcast between logan
0:00:17 paul a conversation between logan paul
0:00:19 and mike tyson
0:00:21 in his impulsive podcast
0:00:24 and some really interesting themes came
0:00:26 up i'm i'm afraid to die
0:00:29 at this particular moment in my life
0:00:31 early 20s i didn't
0:00:32 i wasn't afraid of death i didn't care
0:00:35 and now at 25 i do i
0:00:36 want to be around for a long time i
0:00:39 don't know what's your concept of death
0:00:41 i don't know i don't know i think it's
0:00:42 uh my conscious
0:00:44 sentient know what you need to do
0:00:47 believing you need to you need to study
0:00:49 the concept of deaf
0:00:50 is there books on it oh you think it's
0:00:52 not listening
0:00:53 yeah but which one is right because no
0:00:55 one no one really knows that's up to you
0:00:58 that's up for you to dissect so as you
0:01:00 guys saw there it was really interesting
0:01:02 to see them talking about death
0:01:04 talking about you know the fear of death
0:01:06 in the case of logan paul where he was
0:01:07 saying that he fears death
0:01:08 and then talking about religious books
0:01:10 and i find death
0:01:12 a really fascinating subject and the
0:01:14 reason why is because
0:01:16 it's something which all of us are going
0:01:18 to experience and
0:01:19 none of us who are alive have
0:01:21 experienced if you think about that
0:01:23 that's
0:01:23 really um shocking
0:01:26 reality that all of us are gonna die and
0:01:29 none of us
0:01:30 have experienced this uh death i also
0:01:33 find it interesting to compare
0:01:35 death with sleep not least because from
0:01:38 the islamic perspective they're seen as
0:01:40 comparable the prophet said that you
0:01:42 know sleep
0:01:43 is the brother of death
0:01:46 and the reason why if you think about it
0:01:48 is because both
0:01:49 sleep and death feature a common
0:01:52 characteristic which is
0:01:53 that one loses consciousness in both of
0:01:56 those
0:01:57 states in your sleep state you lose
0:01:59 consciousness temporarily
0:02:01 and then you're regained with
0:02:03 consciousness and likewise
0:02:05 we believe as muslims that you lose
0:02:07 consciousness and death
0:02:09 but you gain it in a different realm or
0:02:12 a different reality or a different state
0:02:14 and just like in the same way as you
0:02:16 would be sleeping okay and dreaming
0:02:19 and so that in a sense you're not
0:02:20 looking at anything but you are
0:02:22 experiencing something else
0:02:24 when you are dead your conscious state
0:02:27 does not
0:02:28 is not lost but it's just transferred to
0:02:30 a different reality
0:02:32 and it's a reality where in which you'll
0:02:33 be questioned
0:02:35 there's judgment and then you'll be
0:02:39 questioned very specific questions quite
0:02:41 frankly about what you believed in
0:02:43 and then you're resurrected we believe
0:02:46 as muslims
0:02:47 and questioned about what you've done in
0:02:49 your life and whatever
0:02:51 good you've done you'll see it then
0:02:52 whatever bad you've done you'll see
0:02:54 it then but the second question of
0:02:57 which book is true because obviously now
0:03:00 the question
0:03:01 what's your theory of death what is your
0:03:02 eschatology
0:03:04 and then the question of what book is
0:03:05 right and so therefore
0:03:07 because these are all metaphysical
0:03:08 points and quite frankly
0:03:10 you wouldn't be obliged to believe in
0:03:12 any of this
0:03:13 without there being some kind of
0:03:16 anchorage intellectual anchorage
0:03:18 that gave us proof and evidence
0:03:21 for its veracity and for its robustness
0:03:24 and for its truth which could then
0:03:26 expound upon these points and quite
0:03:28 frankly
0:03:29 the question of examination is at the
0:03:32 four
0:03:32 of these discussions because mike tyson
0:03:36 was right you need to be able to
0:03:39 dissect to use the words we could use
0:03:42 the word
0:03:43 decipher or distinguish or examine
0:03:46 the different texts that are available
0:03:48 the quran the bible the old testament
0:03:50 new testament
0:03:51 which obviously compiles the bible is
0:03:53 comprised of
0:03:54 and then you know the bhagavad gita the
0:03:56 ggs all of those books
0:04:00 examination and to see which of those
0:04:02 books
0:04:03 is the true one if there is in fact one
0:04:05 that is true at all
0:04:07 and i think this is something which
0:04:10 should be at the
0:04:11 front of our minds in terms of
0:04:13 exploration
0:04:15 and so i would i would put you that when
0:04:17 you're examining
0:04:19 or dissecting these books that you
0:04:21 should have standards in place
0:04:23 and i'll give you something which i
0:04:25 believe are both necessary
0:04:29 and or sufficient in order for you
0:04:33 to be able to make a decision of which
0:04:36 book
0:04:36 out there religious book is the is the
0:04:38 correct one
0:04:39 so so in terms of necessary conditions
0:04:43 i say that there are books out there
0:04:45 that
0:04:46 must conform to at least two or three
0:04:50 major points in order to be the word of
0:04:53 god or
0:04:54 the truth the necessary conditions for a
0:04:57 book being the word of god or the truth
0:04:59 is that this book cannot be uh
0:05:03 something which is not preserved to our
0:05:05 day in other words the book has to be
0:05:06 preserved
0:05:08 it's not something which was for example
0:05:10 a book that existed a long time ago and
0:05:12 it doesn't exist now
0:05:13 the central message has to be preserved
0:05:16 the book itself has to be preserved
0:05:18 such that the access that the original
0:05:22 recipients of that book
0:05:24 have to that book is the same access
0:05:27 that we have to that book otherwise it's
0:05:29 not universal
0:05:31 you see so the first condition which i
0:05:33 believe is a necessary condition
0:05:35 for something being the word of god or
0:05:36 the truth is preservation
0:05:39 a second one is lack of contradictions
0:05:43 because if you have contradictions or
0:05:45 inconsistencies
0:05:46 this is a proof that this thing whatever
0:05:49 it is that's making a claim
0:05:52 is false because something which is true
0:05:55 cannot have contradictions within it
0:05:58 moreover it cannot be
0:05:59 be something that anyone can make in
0:06:01 other words there has to be
0:06:03 a kind of inevitability of this whatever
0:06:06 it is
0:06:07 because if it's something which can be
0:06:08 easily replicated then what is special
0:06:10 about it in the first place
0:06:12 and now i think we're segueing from
0:06:15 necessary
0:06:16 conditions in order for something to be
0:06:18 the word of god
0:06:19 to what i would say is sufficient or
0:06:21 sufficient conditions
0:06:23 so now i would say if a book has all
0:06:26 those three things
0:06:27 it's perfectly preserved it's
0:06:32 free from contradictions and it's
0:06:36 inevitable i think now we have the
0:06:38 necessary conditions
0:06:39 required for that book to be from god
0:06:42 for it to be sufficient now we have to
0:06:46 make a probabilistic case
0:06:48 meaning we have to see the evidences
0:06:51 that are presented
0:06:52 from this book you see
0:06:55 the quran says
0:07:00 we have certainly sent down the book and
0:07:02 we will certainly preserve it in chapter
0:07:04 15 verse 9.
0:07:06 and the quran says in chapter 4 verse 81
0:07:10 that if this book was from other than
0:07:11 god
0:07:14 found many contradictions and the quran
0:07:17 says
0:07:18 that
0:07:23 that if this book was from other god
0:07:25 then produce something like it
0:07:27 and bring your witnesses from other than
0:07:30 god
0:07:31 or if you are indeed truthful
0:07:34 in chapter 2 verse 27 so these are the
0:07:38 sufficient conditions
0:07:39 the necessary sorry the necessity the
0:07:40 sufficient conditions
0:07:43 are things now where we start to see the
0:07:45 evidence because the quran says
0:07:50 say bring your evidences if you are
0:07:52 truthful and so what evidences are we
0:07:54 talking about
0:07:55 the islamic corpus has a range of
0:07:58 evidences
0:08:00 for example prophecies of the future
0:08:03 prophecies of the future are
0:08:06 particularly interesting
0:08:08 because if you have prophecies of the
0:08:11 future
0:08:12 that indicates that the the the person
0:08:16 who is
0:08:16 making these prophecies can either be
0:08:18 guessing or making these prophecies from
0:08:21 some kind of knowledge
0:08:22 and who knows the future except for an
0:08:24 all-knowing
0:08:25 entity except for an
0:08:28 all-knowing entity that knows the
0:08:30 details of the future
0:08:32 so you see prophecies of the future are
0:08:35 one of the many ways
0:08:37 in which islam uses to verify itself and
0:08:40 i'm not going to mention all the
0:08:41 prophecies
0:08:42 but i am going to mention two or three
0:08:44 just to wet your appetite
0:08:46 one of them is that the quran mentions
0:08:47 in chapter 30 verses 1 to 6
0:08:50 that the romans had been defeated in a
0:08:52 nearby and low land
0:08:54 and that they will become successful
0:08:56 from three to nine years
0:08:58 and this is referring to an event that
0:09:00 took place between the roman empire
0:09:02 and the persian empire and you see the
0:09:05 quran is
0:09:05 very specific when it comes to times and
0:09:08 places
0:09:09 and this is not the first and only time
0:09:10 the quran or the islamic tradition is
0:09:12 very specific about future events
0:09:15 there are literally dozens scores of
0:09:18 examples of this
0:09:19 and i will refer you to a book called
0:09:21 the forbidden prophecies
0:09:23 which you can download for free in the
0:09:25 description box
0:09:26 in addition to this islam has a very
0:09:29 precise way
0:09:31 of verifying itself from a historical
0:09:33 perspective historical things which
0:09:35 couldn't have been known
0:09:36 because certain discoveries had not been
0:09:38 made
0:09:40 are mentioned in the quran and i will
0:09:43 leave in the description box
0:09:44 a video which if you're interested on
0:09:46 what i'm talking about
0:09:48 you can watch so you can see what i'm
0:09:50 saying
0:09:51 in addition to this you'll find that the
0:09:54 arabic language that is being used the
0:09:56 quran is revealed in
0:09:58 it completely de-scopes that which had
0:10:01 previously come from arabic
0:10:04 um poetry and so on and so forth
0:10:07 and thus it completely dumbfounded the
0:10:09 arabs of the time
0:10:10 and bedazzled the very um
0:10:14 the the the very elite of the poets
0:10:18 that existed in that time and so from
0:10:20 all of those perspectives and more
0:10:22 we say we have a way in which
0:10:25 and through by we can actually verify
0:10:29 islam and prove that it
0:10:32 is the correct religion
0:10:36 and that the quran and the sunnah
0:10:39 or the quran and the tradition of the
0:10:41 prophet is in fact the guidance from god
0:10:44 the same god that created us the one
0:10:47 creator god
0:10:49 which we call allah was
0:11:05 you
